Doug “Smokey” Wolfe
Chief Safety Officer
Mr. Wolfe is unique to the Institute in that he actually brought metal skills to his work here. Doug was our first guest lecturer, and he stayed on to become the force for order in the Institute. You can always tell where he has been working, because when he’s done, it looks like a place you would like to work. His enthusiasm is infectious and he has proven to be steadfast in the face of deadlines.

Eric Bailey
Institute Brain Trust
If Eric Bailey, a man with high standards, knew he was listed here, he’d be very upset. But he has been an unfailing support to the work of the Institute. Mr. Bailey has actual bike building and mechanicing in his background, a valuable resource. Inspired by the Institute, Mr. Bailey is creating his own bike frame building shop. His first hand built set of forks and front rack for his touring bike are such a smashing success, I can’t wait to get a set for mine. He is often to be found on beat up roads with unclear maps.

Jack Slack
Institute Brain Trust and Patron
Jack Slack has an incredibly deep knowledge of all things metallic/mechanical/electrical and worldly. He has advised and helped us on several projects, and his basement machine shop is one of my favorite places to wield a broom. Everyone at the Institute owes Mr. Slack a debt of gratitude.

Paul Sureddin
Institute Brain Trust and Patron
Paul Sureddin, the Mayor of Fairmount Springs, earned that title by his tireless community building. On our block and for several blocks around, if you want to know what the city is up to, or who’s moving into the neighborhood, check with Paul. He and his partner Melissa, are the spark that makes Fairmount Springs our home. Paul has a hobby internet server that is the home of this web site. Thanks Paul!

Shawn Terjeson
Founder, CEO and Handy With A Broom
Mr. Terjeson is a long time cyclist with a varied and specked history. At one point he counted 30 different career paths in his background. Astoundingly, with all that ping ponging about, he managed to gain zero, nada, zip metal working skills. Leading with his strength, eclecticism, Mr. Terjeson believes that a life without a learning curve is not worth living. Bicycle touring is his first passion, the more beat up the road and unclear the map, the better.
